Expelled because of Diabetes

What is inequality? Webster’s Dictionary defines it as, “the quality of being unequal or uneven.” Have we all once in our lives felt some kind of inequality? The answer to that has to be yes. Regardless of race, gender, heritage and class we have all felt inequality. It is probably the one common thread that ties all of us together on this planet. My concerns lie on how this inequality influences human relationships or human’s quality of life.

I have been doing some online research and I have come across this story of Chinese man that is suffering from inequality.

The first case out of an unnamed university in eastern China's Shandong Province by a freshman named Yang. Four years ago Yang found out that he had diabetes, yet, was never bothered by the effects of this disease. During his freshman year, the university found out that he had this disease and kicked him out. Yang went straight to the public for support. The China Daily News ran an open forum where local people can discuss this topic. Let’s take a lot at what the people think:

“Diabetes isn't infectious, and, caringhk, HIV is only transmittable via blood, so it's hardly a cold. There's absolutely no reason to expel someone with diabetes--what are the college administrators thinking??”-sockmoney

“Agreed, totally unacceptable behaviour and display of knowledge from a place which is supposed to educate, not discriminate!”-exportedkiwi

“An important fact overlooked was the failure of the student to disclose his medical condition of diabeties. Would the university reject a diabeties patient as a student? If so, then it should change. It isn't clear to me how diabeties might impact other students.”-Matt506

So what do you think? Here in the US we have laws in place to protect people like Yang. Could you imagine if a US university expelled a student based on a medical condition, there would be public outrage! But here Yang is suffering from inequality. If no one found out about Yang had the disease than he would have never been kicked out of school. This inequality is outrageous. Don’t you think that the Chinese government should put some laws into place that would stop this from happening in the future?
